Arts on the Block offers hands-on, on-the-job training through paid apprenticeships in the arts, in the form of after-school and summer workshops.

Summer "Pour Your ART Out" workshops begin in June or July and operate six hours a day, for five to six weeks. These workshops are open to all youth in Montgomery County, grades 9-12.   Example of a recent past summer workshop

School year "Pour Your ART Out" workshops typically run for 20 weeks beginning in late October or early November. Enrollment is essentially limited to youth from four Montgomery County high schools: Montgomery Blair, John F. Kennedy, Springbrook and Wheaton. Participants meet one day a week after school, and for six hours on Saturdays.  More about a recently completed school year workshop.

Other hands-on workshops: The 2007/2008 "Two County Turning Point" workshop for out of school youth held in collaboration with  the Maryland Multicultural Centers served primarily disconnected, out of school youth.
